Meet the Balloon Angel
Hi, my name is Cypriana James. If you met me on the street and asked me what I did for a living, I would say I'm an (ECE) Early Childhood Educator. But, I'm also a children's entertainer that can cook, make crafts, play musical instruments, sing, read and write stories and twist balloons. I'm always thinking of ways to engage children between the age of 3-10 years old and their parents. I love to share my talents so that I can interact with various communities.

I have been to some areas in Toronto where the children are seriously deficient in Performing Arts - this makes me very sad. I was trained in classical music and attended Art School as a child, so I speak the language of art fluently. I thank my parents for investing so much money into my Art classes. Art gives me so much joy. I never thought of being a professional balloon artist, until, I realized what joy it brought to all children and their families. The idea of using my talents to make others happy came from God. I didn’t need anyone to tell me what to do. He has been with me on this journey.
The kids always ask me, “Wait, how do you remember so many designs?” My reply, “I practice every day.” I explain how I use latex balloons to sculpt my designs in place of clay. That always gets a big smile. Take care friends and thanks for reading my stories.
After a short demonstration of three basic balloon designs and one mystery balloon design, I invite children to create their own balloon designs with my support. The children learn social skills as they interact with peers and adults. They grasp new words, colour, size, numbers, textures, and patterns recognition. As they interact there is a sense of belonging and community.
